Can you lend me a helping hand?

As a passionate person I am, I'm reflecting myself whether have I lived my day to the fullest. And I'm glad to say that I have. Every single day I'm doing something for myself, for my family, for my colleagues, for my friends, for the society and for god, whoever you are. As I lived on striving towards excellence, I became very tired at the end of the day. I reflected my day by penning down all my To Do List at the end of the day to remind myself not to miss out anything important. My purpose in life is very simple, and that is to touch lives. Yes, it's that simple. Sometimes it is that simple that this complicated part of the whole wide world makes it hard for us to achieve simple things. Honestly speaking, how many of us really help people around you everyday?
One day as I was climbing up the stairway near my block, I saw 2 kids playing with stones throwing at each other near a walkway. One uncle and aunty walked pass and they began to reprimand them. As I walked pass a performer along the passage way to Ang Mo Kio Hub, my dear Cheerio, Letitia, went over and dropped some coins into the performer's coin box. As I was calling my god sister, Carolyn, one day to check on some sales matters, I heard her busying saving someone else's life over the phone. As I was talking to a client, I can hear her passion in educating good values to our next generations. Have you done anything to help people around you?
My goal in life is a simple one but yet, difficult to achieve. Because we focus what we need to do in our daily routine, we tend forgot that we have a purpose in life. I'm doing Cheers because it's in line with my personal goals. If I can urge 50% of you who are reading this blog entry to help others, I have chip in my 150%. If you have urged others to help others, the numbers will multiple. How many of you are willing to lend me a helping hand?

Focus on The Present, not The Past or The Future

Recently I have been inclined to reading. I admit that I'm a slow reader but I'm at my 4th book this year. Do you know of Johnson Spencer who wrote the book "Who Moved My Cheese?" Yes, I'm reading his book called "The Present"
Present can be meant as a gift or now, depend on how you look at it. But when you put them together, there's another meaning to it.
"If you take today as a gift and enjoy your day now, right now, you will find more happiness in life"
Most people don't enjoy their life b'cos they don't focus on The Present. Many people live in The Past, still pondering things that they might have regretted, or live in The Future always striving so hard in wanting to achieve this and that. In the nutshell, living in the past and future will not give you the ultimate happiness.
Some will argue, "Isn't it true that we have to set goals so that there's more meaning and motivation in life?" Forget about motivation to achieve your goals. Try this. "If you fail to achieve your goals, which is The Future, what will you do?" The answer is very simple "Work towards your goal everyday and focus on The Present will help you to achieve it easier" Stress or no stress? It's easier when you have less stress.
Some will say, "What about The Past when my mentor told us to take them as a learning experience?" I will say "Take them as a learning experience and move on in life la, why are you still staring at me?" :p
Morale of the story - Learn from The Past and focus on The Present. What about The Future? We can talk about it in The Future so why ponder now? haha
Humorous way of sharing meaningful lessons... hope it works well for everyone

What to do with lotsa time?

Have you ever gotten a time in your life......

When you got lessons in the morning and a very long break in the middle before the next?

When you have finished all there is to be done just to wait for a LONG time for the pick up by your parents?

When you have finished a one-hour programme in the morning and have to wait for FIVE hours for the next session to start
and you are a LONG way from home?

Well, 3 Bummers have! Phil, Ben and myself were struck with a predicament on what to do for five hours! On Friday 13th 2007 (coincidence?), we finished our topo with Siling Pri and had to wait for a LONG time before the second session started... That was our first day of not knowing what to do. Together with Justin and Eve, we headed to Causeway Point... We had a long breakfast at Ya Kun and we still had 3 hours! After taking this photo, I felt that I really needed to get a haircut!

And there we go! We went to some hairdressing salon to shed some precious curls! Prior to that, Phil kept commenting and asking whether he should style it like Steven Seagal or something... Personally I felt it was time to lose the LONGS... During the process, I even managed to make Ben "gian" enough to have his haircut too! "Phil, you should have joined in the fun!"

Oh well, I guess that managed to kill most of our waiting time for the Siling's second session. BUT FOLKS!!! We got many more weeks ahead! We the "Causeway Bummers" need your suggestions on what to do on our weekly escapades!?!?

Now, look at the difference... No more long fringes to tickle my eyes!!

Small number yet a great trip around Macritche

Hello everyone! Guess who is blogging? YES ME THE LAMEST CRAP also the one that laughs at his own brother...*ahem* ok set aside that. So I spent my weekends in Macritche that drains my energy thoroughly and moves my muscles so much so it sores when the activity ended. GRRR bad bad. But it's alright..good exercise! oh and great fun too =)

Our meeting point was at Ang Mo Kio Town Park. So upon arrival I saw 4 participants ONLY. I'm shocked. Maybe they will come later? BUT NO! The rest are not able to make it GRRRR. It's fine I guess, we'll have the fun not them...THEIR LOST muahahahaha. So philander conducted a lesson to allow them to understand how to use their equipments for topography. After which they did their compass course and we're all set and ready to go!

All of us headed to AMK central to have our LAST LUNCH. And so...it started to drizzle slightly as soon as we move out. Everyone hop on the bus and we played MM CIT CIT LOL that's when a crazy old man started spouting nonsense that sat right beside Cheng Long. Right at that point I was so worried for Cheng Long that I was ready to grab hold of that old man anytime. As soon as we arrived at our destination, everyone quickly got off the bus away from that mad man. So enough of that already, we all head to the starting point and OFF WE GO!

So during our walk to the first check point the siren sounded. Annoucing that chance of lightning strike is at level 1.Philander the chief facilitator told us to carry on with the activity. After awhile, it started pouring heavily and Philander ordered us to head to the ranger station immediately. We arrived at the ranger station with our bag packs down we all started playing GAMES AGAIN to kill time hahahaha. I guess Cheerios are good at killing time eh? heh.

After awhile Philander briefed all of us that the Tree Top Walk is cancelled out, which means that good scenery are cut out =( alright fine. So I was the team leader for Firdian and Letitia while Avanna was the team leader for Cheng Long and Sasi. Both teams seperated and head out to find our next checkpoint. Once again the heavy downpour is back again so the six of us met up coincidentally again and I gave the command to do a fast march all the way to seek shelter at one of the huts along the route. Upon arrival, everyone seek shelter and just waited for the rain to subside once again. Avanna gave the idea to head to the end point at Jelutong Tower the look for the others at least they'd know our situation. So everyone unanimously opted to travel all the way to Jelutong tower to seek shelter instead. So with the amazing energy that everyone has we all hit the Jelutong Tower together as one.

When we arrived there, Clemence told them that we all will be doing a fast march out of this place. Once again with the amazing and unbreakable bond that they have, they cheered for each other. Each boosting their energy, will and power to continue despite the bad condition and physical that they are enduring since the start of TFC IV. What amazing bond I thought.

So as the day goes on, having dinner together, telling ghost stories amongst themselves, answering the nature's call. With much greetings from the moon they fast marched out of darkness to reach the destination of the night topography. While moving there, they created a cheer for TFC IV! How amazing.

Alright end of the day, we had a short debrief and had everyone into the showers. Back from the showers and everyone slept like pigs =x HAHA

So I shall move on to the HIGHLIGHT of the camp =). The bashing. Hail the great o' bash LOL. I AM AMAZED BY MY TEAM'S PERFORMANCE. Letitia has great physical strength, Firdian has great TRUST in his compass. Good team...with me of course la HAHAHA =p. So the entire bashing either one of us will say "Letty you're cool" and either me or Firdian will end it with..."But you're not hot" LOL so Letitia will go..."I'm so sad *pouts*" HAHAHA funny I tell you. When we get so bored and cranky, those are the results of conversations. Alright so with ME as their DAD we all made it alive all in one piece.

Oh before I move on anymore I'd like to say AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I EXIT THE FOREST THE SAME PLACE FOR THE THIRD TIME! I'm so cursed with Macritche. I bashed the forest for three times all the same exit............O.o WHAT IS THIS IT'S NOT COOL AT ALL ok fine I'll bash till I exit from another exit.

Arrived at the end point and had a short walk before the debrief of the entire camp. MAN THE MOOD WAS SO INCREDIBLE. I swear I felt like crying for being so touched by their AMAZING bond, FASCINATING energy. Gosh what a great TRIP we all had =)

So now now...Tell me..Why should we miss TFC? We've got all the reasons to be in this!

My maiden post, Cheers!
Aaron

TFC IV

The View Atop Jelutong at 5AM!

Dear all!

Congratulations to the four brave souls who took up the challenge of joining us in this adventure! My admiration goes out to Sasikumar, Firdian, Cheng Long and Letitia! You have now been included in the exclusive group of "warriors" of the jungle!

"Spartans! What is your profession!"

I apologise profusely for the lack of closing for the TFC that day! Anyways that's beside the point.

Well, i am truly proud of your guys in accomplishing this course through to the end. You are now ready to face the great outdoors with the students in future projects!

The rain and sun and mists and mosquitoes and whatever... Been there and done that... I hope it was indeed a memorable time for all of you. Even though it is a small group, it is quite honestly to me, an ideal size to carry out this. We are able to teach you guys at a more focused level and push you guys to your limits easier...

Remember the times spent pushing each other, encouraging each other through the tougher times. Remember the times spent in the jungle in the nite when i was guiding you all to Jelutong with only a light stick!

What Martin said is true, its the spirit!

"All he asks is very simple. All he asks is for you all to REMEMBER!"

You are all true Spartans/Cheerios!

A rewarding change.

TFC IV arrived and within 2 days, it is now gone. The joy of seeing the participants doing push-up together, and running to touch a tree and having a lot of fun are now but memories in my head. The struggle within the four of them were endless, but yet the fun that they had, surely we'll never forget.

Amidst the omen that something somewhere or somebody was trying to tell us, we still went ahead with TFC IV. With 3 people pulling out in the morning of TFC IV at 7am, and 1 other pulling out the night before. From a comfortable number of 10, we were left with only 4 at AMK Town Garden East.

All of the trainers including myself, had our HP soaked in the rain because as we approached Singapore Island Country Club for our Day Topography, it started raining cats and dogs. We seek shelter nearby, and we thought our day was going to end. Still, it did not affect us.

Bread after Bread after Bread for our dinner. The only one thing that made us all happy was the Tuna that was passed around.

That was the power of CCI. To see that the first morning was a mere disappointment, and the afternoon drew near with tears and jeers, especially when everything got heated up when our handphones were spoilt due to rain, and none of us could contact each other though we were lost in the stimulated jungle.

Ultimately, we had fun. That was all that mattered.

Marketing for TFC - The Correct Explanation

Courtesy of Dr Randall...

"Dr Randall from the University of A.M.P (Ang Moh Pai) enters the lecture hall"

Ladies & Gentlemen, a very good morning to all.
I see many of you are trying to decipher what that uncouth muscle-bound chap is babbling about.

Today I've brought with me the latest in linguistic technology, a revolutionary break-through in Hokkien-to-English translation. I call it the "HOKENG 300"
This compact yet stylish device fits into your pocket and is extremely mobile. Currently it's still at it's testing stage but we have obtained highly encouraging results.

I shall do a demonstration later to show it's true potential.

First of all I would like to commend on our student, Evelyn, for her note-worthy effort on the translation, let's give her a round of applause "clap clap".
I give her a score of 8/10. And for that I am offering her a place in my research team on the development of HOKENG 300.

Now without fuirther ado, let's start the demonstration.

"Dr Randall flips out a PDA-like device and pressed the start button"

Now do observe that it is translating in real-time.
Wah #$% eh !!! Siang si hor bei lak chup gao ?
>>"Censored" Who is #69 ?
Lei bai jiu liao liao la ... mana wu tua gao bai yit ? lim bei ai cho kang eh leh
>>It ends on sunday, how would it drag to Monday? I still have work on Monday, mind you.

An jua bo lang lip lai chiam kah eh ? Lee lang kiah kee chiong sua si bor ?
>>Why nobody came in to sign up? Could it be everyone's afraid of bashing through the wilderness ?
Mai kiah la ... si bei hor sng eh ... machiam kee ohchurd loot teet tor ani kuan ... tapi si ka juey chiu zhang kah chow kah bang kah kar zua nia ... bo simi eh ...
>>Do not fear, it's great fun, like a stroll down Orchard Road, except there's more trees, more grass, more mosquitos, more insects, nothing to it.

Eh sai oh ming kiah, eh sai duan lian, eh sai di wah kow koon, eh sai kah peng you sng, eh sai kee lia gao ... wah si gong jin eh gao hor ... haha ... bo lah ... gong chio nia
>>You can learn new things, exercise, sleep in the open, have fun with your friends, catch "monkeys" (Lia - catch, Gao - Monkey, Lia Gao - defined as catching couples making out) ... "laughs" ... I'm talking about the real monkeys ... no way ... I'm just joking.

Lee lang kaki kua, ani juey hor ming kiah tan lee lang, an jua mai lai tio bor ?
>>See for yourself, there's a whole lot of good stuff waiting for you, shouldn't you come"
Lai la ... hor lee lang sng ji pai ... bao lee jit eh lei bai song song gao julong
>>Come on, just play it once, it's a guarantee that you will have a good time (Song Song Gao Julong - common hokkien idiom, exact translation is feel good until you reach Jurong, means having a prolonged good time)

HOR SEY BO ???
>>So what do you say ?
KIM MEH !!! WAH LANG DI CHUP PUEY LAO JIA PENG !!!
>>TONIGHT ! WE DINE IN HELL ! (Chup Puey Lao - The 18th Storey, Chinese folklore depicts Hell as 18 levels whereby sinners are punished in which those who are the most sinned enters the 18th Storey and suffers the most) (Jia Peng - to eat, to dine)

I hope you have enjoyed the demonstration and impressed by the massive processing powers of this magnificent device, truly a blessing to Mankind.

Lastly, I would like to thank you for your time and I hope to see more of you attending my lecture this weekend.

"The audience stands in ovation as Dr Randall waves and leaves the lecture hall"

Moving on... ...

The worst is over. Along with the company, I have moved on to another phase of life. It is inevitable that challenges are everywhere. I believe I can take up more challenges and live life to the fullest. At least I have swing away from working as an office lad to a biz owner. I've never imagine myself into entrepreneuring.I'm still stuggling to meet sales quota everyday but I'm always motivated to do more. This is nothing as compared to those lonely days. All thanks to Neil and Martin for giving me such an opportunity. I'm fortunate to have known both of you.

What lies ahead will be an exciting journey. My job scope begins to evolve from a ground person to a managerial position. Having said that, my value as a facilitor has not been undermined. I'm happy about it but I will not want to be a facilitator for the rest of my life. What I need to do now is to maintain an excellent team of core members, motivated team of sales personnel and a pool of passionate Cheerios who are our reasons for being successful. There's one more group of people which we tend to overlook is our clients. It's my duty to take good care of them all. Without any one of the element, there wouldn't be me now.

Things are moving on slowly but exponentially. I will stress myself to produce results. At the same time I will find time to do my own things. Most importantly, people around me must benefit from my doings. Be it my family, friends, Cheers or Rovers, every circles are important to me. Give me more time, so long as you keep your faith in me, I'm sure I can create mircles in your life.

To those reading my blog, thanks for spending this short frame of your life looking at my life!

A self-believer,
Justin
